A Bit More CAD - Honours Blog 18

Updated: May 4, 2020

A considerable part of this project is absolutely nailing the user experience, and the Quick Access buttons are a massive part of that. These buttons will be the hub of user control for the blind spot kit so its vital that it's easy to understand and use. The button won't turn the kit on or off, but the main feature will be sleep/wake in case the rider finds themselves in a high-pressure situation and find the alerts distracting. I've made renders of a few different designs to see which look best:

If I come up with any other designs, the renders will shortly follow. I need to figure out what symbols to use to portray each available feature. Volume up/down and power button are relatively self-explanatory as they have universal symbols used on almost every product, but 'sleep' is a bit trickier. I plan to create a quick survey asking people to circle or tally the icon they associate with technology on standby. Hopefully, this will help influence the rest of the design. That's all for today. I'll post any updates here as soon as I have them.

Thanks!
